My Story
I am Calvin Menard. I think that my journey is a little different than that of most shooting instructors as I am a civilian with no military or law enforcement background. I am a Canadian from the heart of Alberta's oil country. It has been said that I have a big personality like my country. I grew up in Northern Alberta hunting and fishing which offered me the start I needed to develop my passion for ELR.
I began developing my precision rifle skills in Canada in 2012. I needed to learn more, however precision rifle shooting at that time was in its infancy. Training in Canada was limited and I had reached a plateau. That is when I found my mentor Chase Stroud with Pumps Precision Rifle Training where I took my shooting to the next level. This inspired me to continue on and share my passion and knowledge by training those who wish to do the same.
I was lucky enough to compete with some of the best in the business and was able to earn myself a respectable ranking on the world ELR standings with my spotter Chase Stroud. I was also fortunate enough to earn a spot on the Applied Ballistics ELR team where I was able to develop my skills in ballistics and the art of precision rifle shooting. I currently remain with Applied Ballistics as a Brand Ambassador.
I am somewhat unique in this shooting industry as I am one of very few civilians that have been able to develop my skills and knowledge to this level. I have had the opportunity to coach service members and civilians to podium finishes within their respective disciplines.
I AM PROOF THAT THIS LEVEL OF SHOOTING CAN BE ACHIEVED BY A CIVILIAN.
